This blog post provides detail on the lesson which I will be observed on to inquire into my teaching, with a focus on how I currently promote children to think critically and create causal links during a reading lesson.
The children: Children with a reading age of 10-11 years. This is at or slightly above their actual age.
The text: Water Worries by Rachael McMillan (School Journal Level 3, April 2012). This text provides the children opportunities to make connections between ideas on a topic which is relevant today with the water shortage that is occurring in Auckland as well as across the rest of the country.
